David & Chris's Wedding Weekend!

David and Chris got married!! When they got engaged last year, we told the kids and their reactions where great:

Me: Uncle David is going to marry Chris.
Sean: Is that because they couldn't find girls to marry? Well I guess it makes sense, I mean they already live together and they have Jack (their dog). So yeah, that makes sense.
Matthew: What?! Two boys without any girls? That's awesome!!!!

We went to Portland the day before to help out a bit. There was a party the night before at Steve and Lorainne's for the family and wedding party members. It was so lovely. We ate out in the garden and the weather was perfect. It was a great evening.

The next morning, Jon, Nicki, and Bethany went early to finish setting up. The boys and I stayed and had some artistic fun with Aunt Peggy. We went to the venue after lunch. It looked amazing!

The kids had several electronic devices to keep them entertained while we finished setting up.

After I got my kids dressed, I handed off our camera and gave them the job of taking lots of pictures. They didn't let me down.

They danced a lot in the teepee.

There was lots of laughing and joy from these kids being together.

The kids lined up nicely for the rehearsal. They walked down the aisle blowing bubbles.

I love this shot of Matthew and Bear.

The venue had two rooms upstairs where we could leave all our stuff and hang out. Michael helped keep all the kids entertained while we waited.

My favorite of K.

This next series of shots makes me happy:

These two are just so silly.

The kids were given the task of handing out programs to all the guests. They were really funny about it because of course they all wanted to give theirs away to each new guest. I tried to encourage them to take turns. They got so excited when someone new would come too. They would shout "More visitors! Guys! More visitors!!" K couldn't say it quite right and would say "More prisoners!"

James was amazing with Jack. He took such great care of him.

The kids "helped" set up the s'mores area. They would eat any crackers or chocolates that didn't split properly and therefore weren't usable. Such selfless children!

The camera ran out of battery before the wedding actually started, but I managed to get a couple pictures of me with my loves.

I borrowed someone else's picture so I would have one of the grooms together. Lorainne and Chris's mom, Susan, performed the marriage and they did such a nice job. They said such beautiful things and the boys' vows to each other were so sweet. I totally cried through most of the ceremony.

The whole night was amazing. There was delicious food and drinks, a delicious s'mores bar, lots of visiting with family (I got to meet some of Jon's cousins for the first time and reconnect with others we haven't seen for a while), dancing, laughing. It was a really great party.

Sean danced for nearly 2 hours non-stop. I would bring him drinks between songs because he wouldn't leave the dance floor. After a few songs, he tossed me his splint because it was getting too sweaty. He was pretty impressive with his moves. At one point he told Nicki "I just do what the music tells me to do."

There was a gallery room and I didn't spend loads of time in there, but there were art pieces that people made for them and this was one of my favorites:

We had left Maisy with Amy since we knew we would be gone most of the time and didn't want to leave her in her crate for that long. Amy emailed me this picture the first afternoon we were gone:
It was nice to know that Maisy was being well loved.

It was a great weekend. We were so exhausted by Sunday morning, but it was well worth it. We loved being able to be with family and we're so happy for David and Chris. We also got to bring Jack home with us for a few days after the wedding. I think Jack and Maisy had a great time together. They played so well together and wore each other out. Jack is really well behaved in the house and it gave me hope that some day Maisy will stop chewing up everything she can reach. Some day.
