I know it's still technically Winter, but it seems odd to me that it got cold enough to snow in February. Especially since last month we had an unseasonably warm week and I worked out in the yard. The week of Sean's birthday was so, so cold. Like in the 20's most of the week. I know, I know. There are other places where that's normal and where it gets colder, but I don't live there! Anyway, it snowed one night enough to stick around and the boys were so excited to get out and play in it.
They got started on a fortress right away. Our neighbors were out too, so we played with them for a while. We started building a second fortress wall and then the kids kept stealing snow from each other's walls. It was pretty silly. Plenty of snowballs were thrown, mostly at the moms.
Eventually, it was just Sean and I working on an igloo. We built for a long time, and then Jon took over for me. When they got tired of building, Sean started demolishing his work.
I'm glad the kids could have fun in the snow. I'm glad it happened on a Sunday and we didn't have to go anywhere. I'm glad the snow doesn't tend to stick around for longer than a day around here. I'm glad I have a lovely warm house and plenty of hot chocolate. I'm grateful for days like this that make us slow down a little and just spend time together.
My little garden. In a few months it will be full of beautiful produce.
I love that I live somewhere with four seasons, but I am truly looking forward to Spring and slightly warmer weather.
