The Hegerhorts came to visit us for a few days and we packed in loads of fun! The first day they were here, we took them kayaking in Silverdale. We played at the park for a bit first, then headed to the water.
Getting ready to unload all our gear
Mackayla and Sean took one kayak out and they did a great job. Sean was great about having his arm in a bag. He never complained about it and his cast stayed dry!
Bethany and Hunter went out together and Hunter got to practice paddling for a while too.
Matthew and I were in the last kayak and Matthew took lots of pictures. He is a great companion.
We paddled over to Old Mill Park to play around. The tide was out a bit and we could see that the water was really shallow for a long ways out. On the way out, we saw so many sand dollars in the water, so we walked around to see if we could collect some.
The mud kept sucking our shoes off, so everyone ended up barefoot. (I heard later, that people sometimes get stuck out there and need rescuing.)
See how far we could walk?
They we quite dedicated to their hunting. We ended up with sand dollars, moon snail shells, and a few clam shells.
It was a great first day! Beaches are always a hit in summer. We came home and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. We made a fire and roasted hot dogs for dinner and had smores.

So much fun! Sean and his cast, so funny! I'm sure he'll be happy once that thing is off. This place looks like a ton of fun too!
