There is a garden called Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island that I've wanted to visit, but it's pretty pricey. I saw that there was a free kids day, and discounted adult admission, so off we went. It was a beautiful day for visiting. There are several different gardens on the property, including a Japanese Garden, Moss Garden, Reflecting pool, a couple ponds, and other lovely places. There's a big open lawn that overlooks the Puget Sound toward Seattle. It's quite impressive.
Sean was pretty pleased about being the navigator.
These leaves were amazing and huge!
We thought this fallen tree was pretty cool. Look at that root cluster!
We liked how new plants were growing out of old fallen trees.
There is a quote on the Reserve's website that I loved:
"Nature can do without man, but man cannot do without nature." -Prentice Bloedel
The next day we went to the Bremerton Marina to see a pair of tall ships. We got to go aboard and look around. It was pretty cool. Matthew seemed nervous to be on board, but he still liked it.
