We drove through some cool canyons in southern Utah on the way to our next destination.
I saw a place on the map that didn't look too far off the freeway called Red Cliffs National Conservation Area. It wasn't as amazing as we had hoped, but it was still cool. There weren't a lot of signs directing us to any one point, so we pulled off and wandered toward a big red rock.
There was a trail for a little bit, but then we left that behind and made our own path.
Matthew pointed out all the different cactus varieties and requested pictures of all of them.
Not very far into our walk, a hawk screeched and I thought that was somewhat foreboding.
We started at the top of that ridge. It was far. And hot.
